So, mass transit is not popular in South Africa! Well, only because the taxis feel their jobs are being affected. So what do they do? Shoot at the buses.
Let me explain from my humble understandings…
1) Taxis are different here. They are mini vans that follow “routes” and pick up multiple passengers at the same time. They honk their horns when there is availablity in their van.
2) Mass transit is one of the many infrastructures South Africa is developing. The various methods like light rail and buses would have set routes and times. Also, (obiviously) they would be able to carry more people.
This advancement in transportation has created the conflict. Solution? The taxis may go on strike, but presently are taking the situation into their own hands.
Answer for me - Stay away from taxis and buses.
